Abstract
Onthebasisoftheinterplaybetweenthemetalfunctionofoxo-anions,andstructureofzeolitesanditsacidicproperties,wereportaninnovativeapproachforenhancingacidityofsulfatedzirconia,SZ.ThisconcernsthesuperiorityofSZcomprisedofsingle-BrønstedacidsitesdispersedonZSM-5overAg,TiandW.TheinfluenceofdopingZrO2onMFIframeworkofZSM-5wasstudiedagainstothercompositecatalystscharacterizedbytemperature-programmeddesorptionofammonia(NH3-TPD),IRspectraofpyridineadsorption,N2sorption,powderX-raydiffraction,elementalanalysisviaFE-SEMandEDX.Resultsshoweduniformporesize,highmesoporevolume,highsurfacearea,andaciddensitiesonthecatalysts.Despitelowerporesizedistribu-tion,Zr/ZSM-5exhibitedhighesttotalacidity(0.75mmol/g),andactivityinconverting>95%usedfryingoil(48wt.%)overSZr/Ag,SZr/Ti,andSZr/W.Thisisoutstandingconsideringthelowerreactionparameterof5h,5:1methanol-to-oilratio,and200°Ccomparedtopriorarts.Evidently,structureandstrengthofBrønstedacidshavedirecteffectonthecatalyticactivityofthematerials.Thisstudyalsoillustratedprospectsofcon-vertingwastesintobiodiesel,whichisimportantespeciallyagainstthebackdropofthecurrentplummetingpriceofBrentcrudeoil.
