Abstract

This paper examines intellectual disability and begging in the Nigerian context. The interface between the two phenomena is considered with a view to understanding the socio-cultural conditions that precipitate begging by the intellectually disabled people in Nigeria. The paper concludes by recommending effective policy implementation strategies in the area of education targeted at both parents of the intellectually disabled persons and the disabled themselves
