Abstract
Access to suitable affordable housing and property is a fundamental human right. However, the rate at which housing and properties are being sold and the documentation processes are frustrating. The study investigates how the public perceives the public relations (PR) activations of the ministry for housing using Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) as a case study. The study hinged on the Excellence Theory of Public Relations. The survey research design was utilised and two hundred (200) copies of the structured questionnaire were distributed to residents in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State, to examine the level and impacts of these PR activations. It was discovered that LSDPC had more to do when it comes to informing and creating awareness about the activities and practices of the corporation as many respondents were not aware of the corporation’s activations. Also, the public perception of the image and activations of LSDPC was discovered low. The study concluded that the public's view of LSDPC's image is not entirely positive, because the organization’s publics do not have full information about its activities. Accordingly, the study recommends an intentional creation of public awareness through impactful activations involving the public.
