Abstract

Fifty years of existence as an independent nation is a golden jubilee age that deserves celebrations. The unresolved problem of corruption in Nigeria has however continued to skew and hobble its development. This paper, among other things, offers a critical assessment of corruption on Nigeria since independence to date. Using the secondary data methodology, it finds that although Nigeria is nowhere near where it should be, given its potentials, the nation could count her blessings, build on strengths, consolidate the positive layers of improvements and appropriate lessons for the future. It therefore recommends effective anti-corruption policy measures to liberate the polity.
