Abstract

Information and communication technology has become the emissary of all innovations taking place in different spheres in the modern society. In the educational sector, many countries around the world are investing in ICTs to improve and update the quantity and quality of education they dispense to their people. In a rapidly changing world, basic education is essential for an individual to be able to access and apply information. The Economic Commission for Africa (EGA) has indicated that the ability to access and use information is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for development. Unfortunately, many developing countries like Nigeria are still/ow in the utilisation and application of /CTs. It is against this premise that this chapter focuses on how /CTs can be boosted for educational development in Nigeria, particularly with regard to the secondary educational system. The authors conclude that the adoption and use of /CTs in schools will have a positive impact on teaching, learning, and research
