Abstract
Explosion and Fire are the two primary hazards caused by flammable and combustible liquids. Based on the flash point values, these flammable liquids are divided into four categories and stored inside the building and warehouse in a configuration consistent with the specific standard. This presentation covers the salient features of flammable and combustible liquids such as classification, flash point, flammable limits, requirements for its storage in container and portable tank, maximum allowable size and other design consideration for inside storage room and general purpose public warehouses and placement for fire control devices where the flammable and combustible liquid are stored. The presentation also touched upon the safe loading and unloading facilities from tank car.
