Abstract
This study reports on the relationship between building operatives and their work life balance. It is aimed at assessing the work life balance of operatives in the building industry. The study conducted a survey using convenience sampling through the distribution of one hundred and twenty questionnaires and it was discovered that building operatives put in or hours in their daily activity at work and the demands achieve their assignment with in the stipulated timelines is enormous. Most respondents’ conceive the idea of moving to another work place but the availability of such opportunity is scarce. The employees are also not satisfied with the fringe benefits they derive from their employers. The employers, in order to tackle this menace should introduce shift systems in their organization for weekend work as this will enable the workers spend some time with their families and employing more hands will reduce the workload on an individual. The government as well needs to create a more conducive environment for organization to thrive so that competiveness can make the employers to treat their employees with some regard. 6
