Abstract

Corrosion resistance behaviour of copper was evaluated in 2M H2SO4 in absence and presence of ammonium dichromate as an inhibitor. The experiments were performed at ambient temperature of 25oC using gravimetric and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. The values of the corrosion rate, the polarisation resistance and the inhibitor efficiency were estimated. The results obtained verified copper susceptibility in H2SO4 in absence of an ammonium dichromate inhibitor and in its presence a good corrosion inhibition of the metal was achieved.
