Abstract
Globally, the problem of pollution is considered to be one of the main cause of water scarcity, as it is common to waste dumped in streams and rivers. This problem has resulted in high levels of toxic chemicals such as pesti�cides, micro-pollutants and heavy metals being found in water bodies. The unwavering natural surroundings of worldwide rareness of water is the topographical and sequential discrepancy between the demands for clean fresh water and the obtainability of it. However, new and diverse technologies have been developed in order to achieve sustainable clean fresh water resources. The revolution in the development of novel technologies and materials such as nanomaterials is considered one of the most motivating and potential novel technologies for wastewater treatment. This review outlines the advancements of separation processes in treating polluted wastewater. Technologies such as phy�toremediation, nanotechnologies and photo-catalysis were discussed
