Abstract
Fire is one of the hazards buildings face in the course of their life span. Fire outbreak in buildings can be very disasterous leading to loss of human lives and properties. Causes of fire in buildings are varied ranging from arson to poor detailing by building professionals. This paper based mainly on literature review and discussion with building industry professionals, identifies the causes of fire in buildings (especially those attributed to building industry professionals) and profers solutions.
