Abstract

A systematic and coincise method for designing active filters in Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) technology is presented. The technique is based on the predistortion of the filter transfer function by appropriate loss or gain factor, enabling the designer to realize all his filter specifications without resorting to circuit optimization and tuning (tweaking). The strength of this technique has been demonstrated in the design of a 2nd order bandpass MMIC filter for mobile DCS 1800 band application, which was fabricated using GEC-Marconi F20 process.
